I think I hear the flower children calling..

Well, it's now Earth Hour. Mom just yelled at me to turn off my lights so I'm writing this from the flickering embers of my LCD monitor.

Rick Mercer pretty much summed up my views on this already on his show, so click here and play the "Light Zapper" clip. (CBC still doesn't let you embed video.)

So what are we supposed to do in the dark for the next hour, get in a circle, join hands, and all sing Kumbaya?

UPDATE, March 30, 10:44 AM: It snowed a lot last night. Earth Hour was supposed to stop climate change, how?

I moonlight as a hatchetman.

Calgary Herald: Teaching kids to kill

"Retired Lt. Col. David Grossman, a former psychology professor at the U.S. military academy West Point, is angry and outspoken on video game violence. He calls FPS games "murder simulators" in his book Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill (Crown, 1999)."

Note to anybody who has studied video game history: see if you can spot the 25-year old blunder the author is making in his comparisons.

(Thanks for the link, Joystiq. The answer to my riddle is there.)

I could actually use this.

Wired: Snorting a Brain Chemical Could Replace Sleep

"In what sounds like a dream for millions of tired coffee drinkers, Darpa-funded scientists might have found a drug that will eliminate sleepiness."

(Thanks for the link, Dilbert.)

If Chicago dyes the Chicago River green for St. Patrick's Day, why can't Calgary do the same for the snow?
